Black Man in a White Coat: A Doctor’s Reflections on Race and Medicine was published in 2016 by Dr. Damon Tweedy. This New York Times Bestseller was also one of Time Magazine’s Top Ten Nonfiction Books of the Year.
This book shares the experience of when Dr. Tweedy began medical school, where he envisioned a bright future where his segregated, working-class background became largely irrelevant. Instead, he found out that he joined a new world where race is front and center.
Black Man in a White Coat examines the complex ways in which both black doctors and patients must navigate the difficult and often contradictory terrain of race and medicine.
Join us for dinner and dialogue with Dr. Tweedy to discuss his experience as a Black Man in a White Coat.
Registration is limited to 20 participants.
