Join us as we kick off the first of four sessions around COVID-19 and the Vaccine. This session will include a NC Department of Health and Human Services presentation on the vaccine rollout.
This session will be presented by the Medical Director of the Department of Continuing Professional Development and Internal Medicine Physician, Dr. Rebecca Bernstein. She will be joined by Leslie Council Lake, Marketing and Sales Manager of the Department of Continuing Professional Development.

Session Two: Provider Forum
February 18, 2021 at 4:30pm.
Our second session will be a conversation with North Carolina providers who are directly impacted by COVID-19. They will discuss the current guidelines followed and also provide a personal perspective on how this pandemic has affected them. They will provide advice based on their expertise and knowledge of the vaccine rollout.
Our moderator for this session will be Dr. William Hathaway, Chief Medical Officer of Mission Health, NC Division of HCA. Speakers will be Dr. Rebecca Bernstein, Medical Director of the Continuing Professional Development Department and Internal Medicine Physician at MAHEC; Dr. Quinton Cancel, Urologic Surgeon at Mission Urology; and Dr. Allison Mathews, Associate Director of the Integrating Special Populations Program at the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity in Winston-Salem, NC.

Session Three: Community Leader Forum

Our third session will be moderated by Ethics Consultant, Dr. Sharon West. Our panelists include Je’Wana Grier McEachin, Executive Director of Asheville Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement (ABIPA); Kathey Avery, RN, Director of Avery Health Education and Consulting; and Alex McKnight, MBA, Emergency Services Business Manager for Buncombe County Health and Human Services in Asheville, NC.
Session Four: Vaccine Hesitancy
March 1, 2021 at 4:30pm.
Our final session in this special series on COVID-19 and the vaccine will focus on why there is so much concern and hesitancy around vaccines in the African American community in general.
This session will be moderated by Dr. Bill Gist, Residency Program Director for MAHEC OB/GYN. Our speakers are Nicole Cush, Principal of the School of Inquiry and Life Sciences (SILSA), Mr. V. Matt Bacoate, CEO and Visionary of Asheville Community Enterprises, LLC; and Cassandra Ingram, BA, MS, Peer Support Specialist.
